I've been thinking about essentials people should bring while they go to a con. I'm just listing these off of the top of my head, but I think they are good ideas. I would like feedback thought. (and no I don't just mean pocky)

Food that doesn't need a fridge or a microwave: certain fresh fruits like apples, bananas, oranges, etc. Dried fruit, chips, pretzels, trail mix, nuts and seeds(sunflower, pumpkin),bread and spreads(peanut butter),certain cereals you can snack on, etc

Water and lots of it!!! Especially if you have reusable waterbottles, most hotels have water fountains or coolers, you can bring your reusable water bottle and just fill it up.

Comfy shoes: I know that there are a lot of cosplays that use boots(especially for us ladies) and I know, after a couple of hours, your feet start to kill you, so maybe wear the boots during the busy hours of the con then when things begin to wind down a little, switch to your comfy shoes. (One if not more of my cosplays require boots so I'm gonna bring my silver crocs ballerina flats and the moment I start to feel the hurt, I'm switching! I know its not going to be accurate, but I care more about being comfy then accurate!!!

Bags: and I don't mean the plastic wal-mart kind. I'm talking the Burlap ones you are seeing everywhere. You may also want to bring a small bag to carry your wallet, phone, keys, etc. You don't want to be carrying something heavy over your shoulder, then bring big Burlap bags for the crap your going to buy at the con.

Money: Self-explanatory

Needle and Thread: In case something happens to your costume.

Notebook: In case you meet some cool people and want to jot down their info.

Deodorant or Perfume or both: You don't want to stink!

Regular clothes: In case you get tired of wearing your costume or if it gets too uncomfortable.

Thats all I can think of for now, If I think of anything else, I'll put it down. Also if anyone else has suggestions, please feel free to put them down.

Great list! A few days ago (just for the fun of it) I was reading a survival guide with "must-bring" items for the San Diego Comic Con, and pretty much all of those things you listed came up.

Only thing you missed, really, was a camera. You'll want to take pictures of all the crazy-cool costumes you see, and the neat people you meet at the panels. Or, you know, you'll want pictures of yourself and your friends to post up on Facebook.

@Tenmuki: ^_^ I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen a lot of people at cons who don't go in costume - every once in awhile while I'm walking around in my three layers of clothing, I envy them for probably being more comfortable.

But it's still a fun thing to do - only occasionally marred by the fact that, for me at least, nobody ever knows who I'm dressed-up as. X)

I cosplayed as L a few times and I guess his costume is more simple and more comfortable than others. And instead of walking bare foot I wore white shoes like L did in the live action movie.

No problem, although I don't know how much my experience counts for, seeing as I've only been to two cons. But yeah, I've definitely seen lots of people just being themselves, which is totally cool.

Your friend is "teaching" you how to cosplay? Interesting! I'm interested to hear what your friend has to say. Personally, I just went and did it with little prior knowledge or prep, so to hear that you're being instructed in cosplay is fascinating!

For both previous cons I dressed up as The Baron (a.k.a Baron Humbert von Gikkingen) from Studio Ghibli's "The Cat Returns" and, because I was lazy, I used my Halloween costume on the second day for both cons (Sylar from "Heroes"). I suppose it's hard when one of my friends accompanying me is a near exact replica of Zuko from "Avatar" - although his costume was really good, so he totally deserved the praise.

Although, Monica Rial, a voice actress who attended SWACE, totally got my Sylar costume, so that made me happy. ^_^

Who are you thinking of cosplaying as after your tutoring?

yep there are many people who just go as them selves. i am usually one of them. and it is more comfortable having  cosplayed as well. but cosplaying is a ton of fun to just do although it takes work. I found going one/two day/s in cosplay and one day in causal cloths is the best mix for me.

Or someone (Kaleb) will just show up in a shirt that he wrote on, and like everyone but me will get it.

lol yes there are those types of cosplays as well the casual cloths as a character. ( a lot less people get that you are cosplaying)
